Sparkling clean are the waters of the Alpenwelt Karwendel. The ten lakes, many brooks and the Isar offer a wide range of holiday pleasures over the whole year: Thus in spring, summer and autumn cycling tours around lakes and Isar meadows are a great idea; if only because of the abundant flowerage. In high summer hiking tours through cool ravines such as the Leutascher Geisterklamm near Mittenwald or the Hüttlebachklamm near Krün are recommended. Bathing lakes are numerous: near Mittenwald the Lautersee and Ferchensee, and the Barmsee and Grubsee are very quickly reached from Krün and Wallgau . The larger Walchensee is situated about 10 km to the East and offers the best conditions for wind surfers and stand-fans. In autumn the lakes reflect the colours of the mountain forests and the first white peaks. And in winter beckon beautiful walks and cross-country skiing along the Isar and lakeshores.
