Hüttlebach Gorge

“Gamskrickla” – That’s what the people of Krün call the chamois’ horns.

At Hüttlebach Gorge, you might be lucky enough to spot a chamois. These shy animals often retreat to the gorge area near Krün during the colder months. In summer, it’s the hikers who move from the Isar meadows up into the slopes of the Soiern Mountains—along with countless bumblebees and butterflies that swarm the blooming mountain slopes.

Refreshing Hike

Hüttlebach Gorge is pleasantly shaded, making the hike especially refreshing on hot summer days. Numerous wooden stairs and railings have been boldly built into the gorge, while the soothing sound of rushing water accompanies hikers. Small flowers bloom in the moss along the gorge walls, creating a green summer carpet dotted with white.

In just under an hour, you can reach the Schwarzkopf viewpoint from the valley. It’s the perfect spot to take a break from the steep hike and enjoy the view of the Isar Valley, the lakes, and the mountains of the Karwendel Alpine region. Those seeking more adventure can continue up to Seinskopf or Signalkopf.
