Lake Barmsee
“Oafach schea” — simply beautiful — is how locals and visitors alike describe Lake Barmsee. And rightly so, because the natural spectacle at the largest lake in the Alpenwelt Karwendel is truly impressive: Barmsee can dramatically mirror the Karwendel mountains glowing in the evening light, the blue-and-white sky, or the dreamy winter landscape.
This bathing lake, reaching depths of up to 30 meters, lies at the foot of the mountains southwest of Krün and Wallgau, surrounded by unspoiled nature. Reeds covered in hoarfrost, gnarled maple trees, and the crisp mountain air make Lake Barmsee especially enchanting even in winter.
