Tour description

Probably the most popular attraction in the Alpenwelt Karwendel region – the Leutasch Ghost Gorge – near Mittenwald. This fascinating tour starts at the large bridge on the Isar river on Innsbrucker Straße. Following the forest road along the Leutascher Ache river to the entrance of the Leutasch Ghost Gorge (gorge kiosk), the short ascent through the forest begins. After just a short while, hikers can gaze into the depths of the Leutasch gorge – from the Panorama bridge. This crosses the gorge at about 40 meters high and offers unparalleled views. The gorge walkways lead further into the gorge, to where you can cross the gorge on the "Höllbrücke." Various stations on the gorge walkways explain interesting facts about the creation of the Leutasch gorge. On the opposite side, a maintained hiking trail leads to the Gletscherschliff alpine tavern, where you can stop for refreshments. Hikers then follow the forest road which leads back to the entrance to the gorge and on into the center of town.
