Herzogstandbahn Walchensee
The most beautiful views from the Herzogstand: Even from the gondola of the Herzogstand cable car you can see the Walchensee with all its shades of blue. All around are dark forests, behind them the peaks of the Karwendel. On a clear day, many a glacier on the main Alpine ridge also peeks out. From the mountain station of the Herzogstand cable car, you can hike on via the Herzogstand mountain inn to the summit pavilion. There you can enjoy the view of the northern side. Lake Kochel, the Blaue Land and the wide plain as far as Munich lie before you.

You can reach the Herzogstandbahn comfortably by RVO bus or car from Alpenwelt Karwendel. By bus is especially smart if you like to hike extensively. You can drive to the top of the pass at the Kesselberg and hike up to the Herzogstand mountain inn. You then walk downhill on the H2 trail to the valley station of the Herzogstand cable car. The ridge hike to the Heimgarten is also very beautiful - but only for experienced hikers.
