The highlights of the tour
The tour description
The starting point is the Mittenwald train station square. This is easily accessible by public transport.
Directly in front of the station you follow the avenue into the centre of the village. Here you will also pass the pedestrian zone at Obermarkt and the Gries district. The colourfully painted houses and the violin-making museum are worth a short break on the tour. After the church, keep left in Gries and turn into Laintalstraße and follow it into the Laintal.
The Laintal is home to many bubbling waterfalls as well as the Mariengrotte, accessible via the small bridge on the left of the path. After crossing the steep Laintal valley, you pass the Maria Königin chapel to the Lautersee lake. Here, seen from the chapel, you have to go to the left bank - you can decide for yourself in which direction you want to walk around the lake.
Here, the forest road leads slightly uphill to a road, which you cross and follow the path towards the Ederkanzel. The trail continues for about two kilometres through the forest until you reach the Ederkanzel mountain inn at 1208 metres above sea level.
After the stop for refreshments, you set off on the left, on the other side of the hill, for the descent. The trail in the direction of Leutasch Schanz / Klamm ends after one kilometre on a road, where you have to be particularly careful and follow in the same direction for the 150m to the Klammstüberl.
From here comes the most spectacular part of the tour: the Leutascher Geisterklamm. Simply follow the signs into the gorge, enjoy the views from the footbridges and the panoramic bridge until you arrive at the kiosk on our side of the gorge. The detour to the Wasserfallsteig is rewarded with the most beautiful impressions. After the gorge, turn left and walk back to Mittenwald, the town centre and railway station are easy to find from here on.

Alternative route & further tips
The route can be rearranged in many ways. Because of the proximity to the village, you can quickly shorten the route, for example, by taking the hiking bus to the Lautersee. You can also extend it variably with a tour to the Kranzberg or to the Ferchensee.
