Tour description

The hike to Dammkarhütte lodge begins at the base station of the Karwendel cable car, where you will first cross Alpenkorpsstraße and arrive at the entrance to the tour via a steel staircase. The hiking route first leads you through a flat, forested region before climbing steeply for a short while on the so-called "Bremsstallboden." At the end of the short climb, hikers continue to follow the forest road, which leads to the "Bankerl," at about 1,300 meters. At the supplies cableway for the Dammkarhütte, the gentle serpentine trail begins, which will take you to Dammkarhütte lodge in about an hour.

Alternative routes & other tips

A nice alternative to hiking on the forest road is the interesting, somewhat challenging Ochsenbodensteig (271). This mountain trail also begins at the base station of the Karwendel cable car and leads you continually under the striking Viererspitze (2,054 meters).
