Tour description

The loop around the Hoher Kranzberg in Mittenwald begins with a ride through the historic town along the Gröblweg to the Gröblalm. Next to the Gröblalm, the trail leads down to Schmalensee. From there, it continues toward the Goas-Alm and on to Klais. At “Quicken” in the Mittenwald Buckelwiesen, mountain bikers cross the railroad tracks and the state highway. The route continues onto a forest road that joins the toll road between Klais and Elmau. A short distance past the toll booth, the ascent through the Rossgraben to Wildensee begins. Here, follow the road downhill for a short stretch until the trail to the Korbinianhütte branches off to the right. From there, it’s another short descent through the beech forest before the trail becomes quite steep again. The paved road leads up to the Kranzberg chairlift’s upper station and on to the Kranzberg Summit Hut (unmanned), the highest point of the tour at about 1,370 meters. The descent then follows the so-called “Hirnschlagweg” to Ferchensee and Lautersee, back to the center of Mittenwald.
