Today we go to the beautiful beech forests on Mittenwalder Kranzberg. The trained herbal educator Maria Veit takes you on tour, shows the obvious and hidden treasures in the forest and explains which plants were used for what in the past and today. Questions like “can you eat trees?” are answered with ease and open up a different view of the unique stock of beech trees on the Kranzberg that are up to 200 years old. It was only in 2021 that the beech forest on Kranzberg was recognized by the UN for its biological diversity.
Meeting point is at 9:30 a.m. at the valley station of the Kranzberg chairlift. No prior registration is required.
Participation fee: 10 euros, with guest card 5 euros per person, payable directly on site
Duration: approximately 2 hours
The minimum equipment required is sturdy shoes, rain gear, clothing appropriate for the weather and a drink. Participation is at your own risk.
