The traditional Georgiritt to the picturesque Queen Maria Chapel (Kapelle Maria Königin) on the Lautersee above Mittenwald delights many vacationing guests and local visitors year after year.
It will be that time of year again on the 29th of April 2018; that’s when a large number of riders and coaches with magnificently decorated horses will all move together to the chapel on the Lautersee. During this special pilgrimage, horse and carriage teams from Mittenwald, Krün and Wallgau, as well as the district of Garmisch-Partenkirchen and neighboring Tirol can be seen. The Georgiritt in Alpenwelt Karwendel - proof of the colorful, living customs in Bavaria.
The horse pilgrimage begins at 10 a.m. On Dekan-Karl-Platz and finally leads to the Kapelle Maria König on the Lautersee, where the traditional blessing of the horses will begin at 11 a.m.
A little tip for those who don't want to walk: on the 29th of April, the Schütz taxi company will operate buses from the Dekan-Karl-Platz.
