Tour descriptionThe starting point for this hike is the parking lot at the cemetery in Krün. Follow the signs for the Maria Rast chapel along the edge of the forest, through the underpass. From here, climb a short ascent through the forest to the chapel. Benches in front of the chapel invite you to take a short breather. Continue to the left on the asphalt Hochstraße toward the Goas Alm alpine hut, where you can stop in for refreshment (note their day off!) Continue through the unique cultural landscape of the Buckelwiesen "hummock meadows" opposite the mountains to Schmalensee lake. From here, following the signs, a little forest trail leads to the Gröblalm lodge above Mittenwald. It will take about 15 minutes to get from there to the center of town in Mittenwald.
