Tour description

The starting point for this hike is the center of Krün, accessible by the bus stop "Ortsmitte Krün". From there, turn directly into Krottenkopfstraße (if you arrive by car there is a parking lot for hikers) and then into Otenwangerweg. Follow the signs in the direction of the Maria Rast chapel at Hochstraße. Benches in front of the chapel invite you to take a short breather. Continue straight on the asphalt Hochstraße toward the Goas Alm alpine hut, where you can stop in for refreshment (note their day off!) Continue through the unique cultural landscape of the Buckelwiesen "hummock meadows" opposite the mountains to Schmalensee lake. From here, following the signs, a little forest trail leads to the Gröblalm lodge above Mittenwald. It will take about 15 minutes to get from there to the center of town in Mittenwald.
