Start: City Hall Wallgau - Destination: Maxhütte Wallgau
On the trail of one of the most successful biathletes of all time -Magdalena Neuner- you hike along the same-named Panorama Trail in Wallgau to the Maxhütte and experience a unique view of the Karwendel Alpine world.
The starting point of this tour is at Town Hall in Wallgau, accessible via the bus stop of the same name. If you arrive by car, you can park at the "Wallgau Zentrum" hikers' car park on Soiernstraße. From there, first head towards the village square, then up via the "Sonnleiten" to the start of the Magdalena Neuner Panorama Trail. The slightly ascending, well-built footpath, which is cleared in winter, leads comfortably below the Krepelschrofen to the northern end of the village in the direction of Walchensee. Here you cross the B11 and rejoin the panorama trail to the Maxhütte (1,022 m), which invites you to rest and linger. For the way back, take the same path or walk along the road below the Maxhütte into the village.
Alternative route & further tips
This varied winter hike can also be started from the northern entrance to Wallgau. In the summer months, a detour to the Krepelschrofen (1,160 m) is also possible. From there you can enjoy a magnificent view over the entire Karwendel Alpine world.
