Wallgau

Wallgau.
Impressive views.

The atmosphere in the village is homely with the best view of the mountains. In the centre of the village, next to beautiful old houses, one property in particular stands out: the Post, richly decorated with Lüftlmalerei, an inn since 1621, today also a hotel.

Rich history
The history of the place goes back to the 15th century. At that time, the towns of Alpenwelt Karwendel were located on the important trade route to Italy. There was a horse changing station in Wallgau, which was soon joined by an inn. The "travelling passenger post" also stopped here and brought famous guests such as Johann Wolfgang von Goethe to the town.

Sports inspiration
In recent times, Wallgau has been the talk of the town, especially when it comes to sports. Magdalena Neuner, Germany's most successful biathlete, still lives in her home town. If you want to learn more about this likeable woman, take the "Magdalena Neuner Panorama Trail". Along the way, panels tell of the athlete's childhood and career, and numerous beautiful views open up.

TIP:
Holzer's Café & Eismanufaktur
A paradise for those with a sweet tooth
Florian Holzer lovingly processes only the best ingredients traditionally into pralines, cakes and tarts. And ice cream lovers enjoy cool delicacies made from regional dairy products and fresh fruit. The house speciality: plum tubular noodles. Irresistible.
