This glorious mountain tour leads hikers and mountaineers up into the unique mountain world of the Karwendel Mountains. Unique alpine landscapes, unforgettable panoramic views and plenty of fresh mountain air await you on this recommended mountain tour via the Wörnersattel to the Hochlandhütte above Mittenwald.
The mountain tour over the Wörnersattel to the Hochlandhütte near Mittenwald begins at the hikers' parking lot north of Mittenwald, near the two barracks. Now hikers first follow the gravel road to the Aschauer Alm (not managed). The so-called "Jägersteig" begins there and runs along a small gorge through the mountain forest. At the end of the Jägersteig trail, you cross the dry bed of the Sandbach stream and follow the road towards Vereiner Alm to the highest point. Here, mountain hikers turn right into the forest and follow the serpentine path that leads up to the Wörnersattel at 1,989 meters. From here, the descent down to the Hochlandhütte begins. Return to the valley from the Alpine Club hut via the Obere Kälberalm (not open to the public) and the footpath above the Gassellahnbach stream, which leads to the starting point of the tour.
Please note that the Jägersteig trail is currently closed due to considerable damage to the path. Alternatively, the Fortstraße can be used between Vereineralm and Seinsalm/ Aschauer Alm. Status: Sept. 2025
