Mountain bike tour to the Schachenhaus lodge via the Wettersteinalm alpine hut

Tour description

This special mountain bike tour starts in the center of Mittenwald, with a ride to the Lautersee and Ferchensee lakes, below the Wetterstein mountains. The so-called "Bannholzweg" trail begins directly beyond the Ferchensee lake and leads up to the Wetterstein alpine hut, at 1,464 meters. Shortly before the traditional alpine hut, the Schachenweg branches to the right and takes bikers first to the Schachentor and then to the King's House. After visiting the palace and recovering at the Schachenhaus lodge, the descent leads from the palace back down to the Wetterstein alpine hut and then past the Schloss Elmau and Schloss Kranzbach palace hotels to Klais. A short climb leads up to the popular "Goas-Alm" alpine hut, before the descent leads back to Mittenwald through the famous Mittenwald Buckelwiesen "hummock meadows."
