Start: Wallgau ; Sonnleiten - Destination: Krepelschroffen ; 82499 ; Wallgau
The Krepelschroffen (1,160 m) above Wallgau is certainly one of the most beautiful vantage points in the Alpenwelt Karwendel region. From the summit of this panoramic mountain near Wallgau, you can see the entire upper Isar river valley, as well as the craggy rock faces and mountain peaks of the Karwendel and Wetterstein mountain ranges...
The starting point of this tour is at the city hall in Wallgau, accessible via the bus stop "Rathaus Wallgau". If you arrive by car, you can park at the parking lot "Wallgau Zentrum" or at "Haus des Gastes". From there, you first walk towards the village square, then via Sonnleiten to the beginning of the Magdalena-Neuner-Panorama Trail. This can be reached in about 10 mins. and is well suited for families with children. At the trail junction to the "Krepelschroffen," a steep, serpentine trail (may not be recommended for older guests) leads on to the vantage point, where you are rewarded with a 360° panoramic view. From the turquoise-green Walchensee lake to the Isar and Rissbach river valleys, the Soiern mountains, the Karwendel and Wetterstein to the Ester mountain range. Looking out over the upper Isar river valley, one probably feels as close to nature as Magdalena Neuner: "I draw my strength and energy from here..."
