Tour description

Hiking through the wild and romantic Laintal in Mittenwald is popular with holiday guests and locals alike. The starting point is the Mittenwald train station square. This is wonderfully accessible by public transport.
Directly in front of the station, you follow the avenue into the centre of the village. Here you also pass the pedestrian zone at Obermarkt and the Gries district. After the church, keep left in Gries and turn into Laintalstraß. At the end of the Laintalstraße keep to the right and you will soon reach the pleasant hiking trail that leads along the Lainbach into the valley of the same name. Now the ascent begins over serpentines, some of which are steep but nevertheless easy to negotiate. Hikers soon have an unforgettable view of the spectacular waterfall in the Laintal - a popular photo motif. In the upper part of the Gorge, a small bridge leads to the Grotto where a statue of the Virgin Mary can be seen. The upper end of the Laintalklamm gorge can be reached via a few serpentines. Afterwards, the hiking trail runs almost level again along the Lainbach to its source, the Lautersee at about 1,012 metres.
