SALOMON Zugspitz Ultratrail

For the seventh time, trail runners from all over the world will gather from 15th till 17th of June, 2018 in Grainau at the foot of the Zugspitze, Germany's highest mountain, in order to complete the circuit.

At a distance of no fewer than 100 kilometers (62 miles) at an altitude of 5,420 meters (17,782 feet), it is considered to be the ultimate discipline to complete the Salomon ULTRATRAIL in one piece. However, the slightly shorter SUPERTRAIL from Leutasch to Grainau is also quite a challenge for the runners, at a distance of 68.8 kilometers (42.8 miles) and an altitude of 3,120 meters (10,236 feet). The new BASETRAIL is a little more relaxed and will again start in Mittenwald in 2014. Although reaching the target still involved a distance of around 35.6 kilometers (22.1 miles) at an altitude of 1,892 meters (6207 feet), it provides an ideal opportunity to experience your first race or to really step on the gas. A concept that has been well received on the trail running scene and from year to year attracts more participants to the Zugspitze. In Mittenwald, enthusiasm for the positive development of the event is great. "Last year, Mittenwald was already one of the three starting points for the SALOMON ZUGSPITZ ULTRATRAIL. We are all the more pleased that we are also able to participate as a starting point in 2018. Our region is well suited for running events and has a lot to offer, especially for trail runners," says Sabrina Blandau, Director of Tourism for Mittenwald.

In principle, anyone can take part in the SALOMON ZUGSPITZ ULTRATRAIL; the facts of the routes speak for themselves. However, experience on high Alpine terrain as well as very good coordinative skills are also essential and require good preparation. Again this year, the SALOMON ZUGSPITZ ULTRATRAIL is an official qualifying race for the "Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc". There are three points for those who finish the ultra-distance and two points for those who finish in the Supertrail category.
