The tour to the King's House on Schachen is probably the most intensive and most impressive way to get to know the Wetterstein mountains as a cyclist. King Ludwig II recognized the magical charm of this place, and had his King's House built at an altitude of 1,868 m (6128 feet) on Schachen. A few steps above the King's House on Schachen is a fantastic vantage point. Look into the almost vertical drop of 1,000 meters (3280 feet), at the end of which the Zugspitze rises. The King's House on Schachen itself is located directly below the Dreitorspitze, an equally impressive Wetterstein trio of peaks. The upper part of the Schachen route offers more fantastic views of the Wetterstein, you can swim in Ferchensee at the foot of the Wettersteinspitze, stop off for refreshments at the Wetterstein Alpine hut, which is surrounded by the impressive cliff scenery. All in all, an absolute dream tour you just have to see for yourself.
