Karwendel Cable Car

...float from 913 meters to 2,244 meters...

From the mountain station to 2,244 meters (7,362 feet) above sea level, there is a magnificent view of the Isar River to the violin-making center of Mittenwald, from Krün and Wallgau to the foothills of Mount Zugspitze, the foothills of the Alps and the small mountain lakes.

From the Karwendel cable car mountain station, you will find numerous hiking and climbing routes, from gentle to sporty. The classic is the Mittenwald climbing route that rises above an altitude of 2,000 meters (6,560 feet) eight times. The mountain tavern at the mountain station can accommodate 200 guests inside and 80 outside on the terrace. Here you can meet, celebrate, and even get married. The Mittenwald registry office has a branch office here.

In winter, off-piste skiers appreciate the seven kilometer descent (4.34 miles) through the legendary Dammkar, Germany's longest ski route.

The Karwendel mountain range is the largest continuous nature reserve in the eastern Alps. 80% of them are on the Tyrolean side, in "Alpenpark Karwendel". This location has spurred on the Karwendel cable car team to actively contribute to the conservation of the sensitive high Alpine natural environment. Germany's highest nature information center, "Bergwelt Karwendel", along with the Karwendel mountain station, has been a symbol of this commitment since 2008. The larch wood-clad structure in the form of a giant telescope protrudes seven meters out over the abyss, and was awarded the 2009 Sustainability Award by the Alpine Convention. The rare rock ptarmigan inhabits the area behind it. The exhibition inside is designed to inform visitors about the high mountains and other endangered habitats, and to encourage them to protect them.
