Hiking & Walking

…Walking – hiking without the exertion…

Would you like to enjoy the diversity of the Bavarian mountains, find places to stop for refreshments, and hike to the lakes, or learn something interesting on the numerous educational trails in Alpenwelt Karwendel without too much effort or exertion? Then you are in the right place in Mittenwald, Krün, and Wallgau - there are countless level and well-maintained hiking options that lead hikers to the natural treasures of the region.

Down in the Isar Valley you can enjoy the sunny expanses, the undulating pastures and the fragrant flower-filled meadows. Walking along the banks of the wild river or all around Barmsee is a special treat. You can stop off at the mountain inns in the surrounding area, in beer gardens and sun terraces.

Higher up hiking is just as easy. The Kranzberg has beautiful panoramic views and you can "climb" it in the comfort of a chairlift. On the panoramic loop trail to the mountain station of the Karwendel cable car at 2,244 meters (7,362 feet), great feats of stamina are not required, although sturdy shoes are.

The tourist information offices for Alpenwelt Karwendel have detailed, free brochures with extensive tour descriptions, map excerpts and elevation profiles for you to plan your own personalized trip - just ask!
