As part of the G7 summit for 2015 at Schloss Elmau, a castle in the Alpenwelt Karwendel area, German chancellor Angela Merkel and U.S. president Barack Obama visited the vacation spot of Krün on Sunday, June 7, 2015. The weather was excellent during the visit.
Traditional Bavarian refreshments with Obama & Merkel
Set against the unique backdrop of the Karwendel mountains, the two heads of state took time to speak to the many Krün residents who had turned out for the event. The German chancellor and her American counterpart enjoyed both the striking landscape of the Alpenwelt Karwendel area and its Bavarian traditions and local customs, as they explained when speaking at the event.
The major highlight of the visit was when Merkel and Obama were entered in the book listing the guests of honor of the town of Krün. This was without a doubt a historic event for the vacation destination of Krün, which is located in the Alpenwelt Karwendel area. Afterward, Merkel and Obama enjoyed the excellent weather together with Krün residents over traditional refreshments featuring typical Bavarian delicacies.
