G7 summit in the Alpenwelt Karwendel area

The G7 summit for 2015, held at Schloss Elmau, a castle in the Alpenwelt Karwendel area, on June 7 and 8 – a major political event, set against the unique backdrop of the mountains of Upper Bavaria.

The weather was superb as heads of state Barack Obama (United States of America), Stephen Harper (Canada), David Cameron (United Kingdom), Shinzo Abe (Japan), Angela Merkel (Germany), François Hollande (France) and Matteo Renzi (Italy) met at Schloss Elmau to talk about subjects of global importance.

One major highlight for local residents of Krün was the visit by U.S. president Barack Obama, together with German chancellor Angela Merkel, who met in front of Krün’s redesigned city hall for traditional Bavarian refreshments before the start of the summit on Sunday, June 7, and talked with the crowd of visitors.
