Church of St. Peter and St. Paul in Mittenwald

The symbol of Mittenwald is the painted church completed in 1746 with St. Peter and St. Paul as its patron saints. From 1734 to 1749, the current church was built by the Wessobrunn master builder Joseph Schmutzer and decorated with numerous, colorful frescoes by the Augsburg artist Matthäus Guenther.

The church invites you to stay a while and take a look around. The people, history, art, traditions and beliefs, and not least the beautiful landscape combine to create a unique experience. The Mittenwald church was first mentioned in 1315.
